First blog

When I was a child (in the sixties and early seventies) the Communist atrocities were fresh in everyone’s mind and often talked about on television and around the dinner tables of America. You saw people of Russia standing in lines, reaching around the block, for a pair of shoes, a loaf of bread etc, often by the time they got to the store the shelves would be empty… This was heartbreaking to watch and soon America in true American fashion was sending grain and other foods to the starving people of Russia..
It occurs to me that people younger than i have not seen this or heard it. They do not know that Stalin (during the communist revolution of 1930-1938) Executed  1,000,000 people, from 1936-1950 more than 12,000,000 died in “camps” and from 1932-1936 3,500,000 died in the “Collectivization” movement where Stalin  attacked the ‘Wealthy” and replaced people who had farmed for generations with factory workers trained by government experts and little or no farming experience.
It alarms me that people in the current administration look to MaoTse Tung as a hero or someone to be emulated. During the Chinese Communist Revolution 1958-1962, only four years, Mao was responsible for the deaths of 45- 78,000,000 citizens of China who were executed, worked or starved to death.
And once they had consolidated their power their countries, their people, suffered for years. The Government ran every aspect of their lives. The schooling they got, the job they got, where they lived and with the lack of goods on the shelves, what they ate and drank. Imagine your life being run like the DMV or the IRS or your favorite Government bureaucracy.
These were not good men or good movements and none of this did any of their people any good and it cannot be a good thing for America that Pravda, quoting Putin (current leader of Russia) compares Obama to Stalin in his policies, or that advisers to our President (like Valerie Jarett and Van Jones) think Mao was a great guy. These guys make Hitler look like a school marm ( he was responsible for only 11-50,000,000 deaths).
It disturbs me that many of the policies of the current administration emulate the policies of these guys: Government run health care, gun control, executive orders to consolidate power in the executive branch of the government, and now he wants Congress to grant him authority over the debt limit and all spending, which will strip the Congress of most of its power under the Constitution.
And remember that Stalin, Mao and Hitler were Elected at first and then, once they were in office they found ways to control future elections or got rid of them all together. Many of these elections were not real of course, all they needed was to control Who Counted the Votes, leaving the regular citizens wondering how they had gotten in this mess.
Often people wonder how the people could have elected such men and then why they did not stop them. How they got elected was Charismatic leaders and voter fraud and how they stayed in power was, media manipulation, intimidation and mass murder. We should be forcing the media to question the current administration’s policies, background and the strange goings on in our last election, which our current media, for the most part have ignored, to our peril.

(the figures I’ve quoted came from these sources:

R. J. Rummel, Professor Emeritus at the Univerisity of Hawaii, estimates the true number of deaths attributable to Joseph Stalin. He is the author of Death by Government, and his website provides the evidence in detail for what he writes here. For more information on the death toll from communism, see “The Red Plague“. He blogs regularly at Democratic Peace.
